MUMBAI: A group of congressmen reportedly vandalized the office of a food and beverage company in Andheri East in Mumbai on Tuesday over an advertisement that mocked Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
MIDC police subsequently registered an FIR against eight party members and detained them.
On Tuesday afternoon, around eight to ten party members broke into the Storia Foods offices at Mahakali Caves Road. They ransacked office equipment, furniture and windows.

The group was led by Nitin Sawant, secretary general of the Mumbai Congress.
He was accompanied by workers from the Youth Congress.
Speaking to reporters just before being arrested by police, Sawant took responsibility for the vandalism and said the humiliation of the party leadership would not be tolerated.
The ad, still running on social media platforms, was for the company’s thick shake product.
“We have taken eight men into custody and the process of registering an FIR is underway,” said DCP Chaitanya S, spokesperson for the Mumbai police.
MLC Bhai Jagtap, the Mumbai congressman, tweeted a video of the party workers’ slogans at Storia’s office.
He praised Sawant and the Youth Congress workers for their response to the humiliation of the party leadership.
